Eye care professionals specialize in understanding how the human eye really works, as well as diseases and conditions that affect your vision—many of which do not always have obvious symptoms. Eye doctors know how age and risk factors affect vision over time for young and old, and they understand the benefits and features of corrective lenses, both as eyeglass lenses and contact lenses.
Our optometrists take the time to explain the results of your eye exam, describe your options and listen to your eye care needs. Because maintaining good eye health is an ongoing partnership, we encourage you to ask questions and share your health information, which could be vital to monitoring, diagnosing and treating potential vision problems.
Meet our doctors:
Dr. Jacob Schmitt grew up in Newburgh, Indiana. His interest in the visual system began after learning his grandfather was blind in one eye from glaucoma. He received a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology/Pre-Optometry from The University of Southern Indiana in Evansville in 2007.
Dr. Schmitt then headed south to the land of barbeque and blues where he graduated Cum Laude from Southern College of Optometry in Memphis, TN in 2011.
Dr. Schmitt is a licensed doctor of optometry and has passed all parts of the national board examinations required for licensure by the State of Indiana. His practice is located within Lenscrafters in Easland Mall. He is happily married to his high school sweet heart, Jessica, and has three wonderful children, Liam, Anderson, and Margo. In his spare time Dr. Schmitt enjoys, running, cycling, gardening, and tinkering in his workshop.
