Dr. Stefan Hanish grew up in East Lansing, Michigan, where he received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Business Management from Michigan State University. Dr. Hanish then attended Indiana University School of Optometry, obtaining his Doctor of Optometry degree in 2018.
Hanish started his clinical rotations at Talley Eye Institute in Evansville, where he trained closely with optometrists and ophthalmic surgeons treating corneal disorders, cataracts, glaucoma, age-related macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, and other advanced diseases. He continued his training at Atwater Eye Care Center in Bloomington and Indianapolis Eye Care Center in Indianapolis where he worked in the primary care, contact lens, pediatric, low vision, and advance disease clinics. Dr. Hanish finished his training at Evansville VA Health Care Center, where he provided a wide range of optometric care for our country’s veterans. Before practicing in Evansville and moving closer to family, Dr. Hanish provided full-spectrum optometry care at a private practice in Indianapolis.
Hanish’s passion for optometry began in high school where he was introduced to orthokeratology as a research patient, which allowed him to play sports without wearing glasses or contact lenses. Wanting to follow in his dad’s footsteps as a physician, he decided optometry provided the ideal combination of general healthcare and individual patient relationships.
Dr. Stefan Hanish and his wife, Dr. Nicole Hanish, reside in Evansville. In his spare time he loves sports, staying active, and spending time with friends and family.
