Jacob Schmitt

Dr. Jacob Schmitt grew up in Newburgh, Indiana. His interest in the visual system began after learning his grandfather went completely blind in one eye from glaucoma. He received a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology/Pre-Optometry from The University of Southern Indiana in Evansville in 2007.

Dr. Schmitt then headed south to the land of barbeque and blues where he graduated Cum Laude from Southern College of Optometry in Memphis, TN in 2011.

Dr. Schmitt is a licensed doctor of optometry and has passed all parts of the national board examinations required for licensure by the State of Indiana.

Jacob has three wonderful children, Liam, Anderson, and Margo. In his spare time, he enjoys hunting, farming, motorcycles, and tinkering in his workshop.

Stefan Hanish

Dr. Stefan Hanish grew up in East Lansing, Michigan, where he obtained his BA degree in Business Management from Michigan State University. He then attended Indiana University School of Optometry, earning his Doctor of Optometry degree in 2018. Dr. Hanish is a licensed doctor of optometry and has passed all parts of the national board examinations required for licensure by the State of Indiana.

Hanish’s passion for optometry began in high school where he was a research patient for orthokeratology, a medical technique that corrects vision while sleeping at night.  Wanting to follow in his dad’s footsteps as a physician, he decided the realm of optometry provided an ideal opportunity for individualized patient care and serving the community.

Stefan's wife, Dr. Nicole Hanish, is also an optometrist and IU alum. When not discussing eyeballs, they enjoy supporting IU and MSU athletics, staying active, and spending time with loved ones, which includes their cockapoo, Izzy, and their first son, Charlie.

Nicole Hanish

Dr. Nicole Hanish grew up in Vincennes, Indiana.  She attended Vincennes University before finishing her bachelors degree in Kinesiology at Indiana University. She then went on to optometry school at Indiana University School of Optometry to obtain her doctorate degree in 2018.  Dr. Hanish is a licensed doctor of optometry and has passed all parts of the national board examinations required for licensure in Indiana.

Ever since childhood, Dr. Hanish grew up knowing she wanted to be serving in the medical field. She closely shadowed family friends who were also Optometrists, and fell in love with the field.

While attending optometry school, Dr. Hanish met her husband (Dr. Stefan Hanish) and were married the following New Year's eve after graduation.  Hanish's passions outside of optometry include hanging with family & friends, staying active, cheering on the Hoosiers, and loving on her cockapoo, Izzobella, and first son, Charlie.

Matti grew up in Morganfield, Kentucky and now lives with her husband and cat in Evansville, Indiana. With a meticulous attention to detail and a genuine care for your vision, Matti is dedicated to ensuring your eye care experience is comfortable and comprehensive. Michael Bertram

Michael was born and raised in Newburgh, Indiana. He recently graduated from Wabash College and has aspirations of attending medical school. He worked in an optical on school breaks for four years and has always been fascinated with the ins and outs of vision. 

In his free time outside of work, Michael is an avid golfer, a soccer coach, and loves to spend time with his fiancé who he is marrying in the summer of 2024!
