Dr. Jacob Schmitt grew up in Newburgh, Indiana. His interest in the visual system began after learning his grandfather went completely blind in one eye from glaucoma. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Biology/Pre-Optometry from the University of Southern Indiana in 2007, then graduated Cum Laude from Southern College of Optometry in Memphis, TN in 2011.

Dr. Schmitt is a licensed doctor of optometry and has passed all parts of the national board examinations required for licensure by the State of Indiana.

Jacob has three children — Liam, Anderson, and Margo. Outside the office he enjoys hunting, farming, motorcycles, and tinkering in his workshop.

Dr. Stefan Hanish grew up in East Lansing, Michigan, and earned his BA in Business Management from Michigan State University before completing his Doctor of Optometry at Indiana University School of Optometry in 2018. He is a licensed optometrist and has passed all parts of the national board examinations required for licensure in Indiana.

His interest in optometry began in high school as a research patient for orthokeratology, and—inspired by his father's work as a physician—he found optometry the perfect fit for hands-on patient care with community impact.

His wife, Dr. Nicole Hanish, is also an optometrist and fellow IU alum. Outside of work they cheer on IU and MSU sports and spend time with their cockapoo, Izzy, and their two children, Charlie and Emmie.

Dr. Nicole Hanish grew up in Vincennes, Indiana, and began her studies at Vincennes University before earning a bachelor's degree in Kinesiology from Indiana University. She completed her Doctor of Optometry at the Indiana University School of Optometry in 2018 and is a licensed optometrist, having passed all parts of the national board examinations required for licensure in Indiana.

Shadowing family friends who were optometrists sparked her passion for eye care and its everyday impact on patients' lives.

While in optometry school, Nicole met her husband, Dr. Stefan Hanish; the two married on New Year's Eve following graduation. She's a proud Hoosiers fan and mother to Charlie and Emmie, and adores her cockapoo, Izzobella.

Matti is from Morganfield, Kentucky and has worked in eye care for six years, four of them here at Keen. As our Certified Paraoptometric Assistant, she leads the way on dry eye treatment and coordination, guiding patients through diagnosis and care with a steady, practiced hand. At home she's kept busy by her husband, Jake, and their cat, Boots.

Kirby is from Evansville, Indiana and has been part of the Keen team for four years, keeping the front office welcoming and running smoothly. At home he and his wife, Bethannie, are getting ready for their biggest appointment yet — they're expecting their first child this summer — alongside their two dogs, Apollo and Ares.

Addison is from Lynnville, Indiana and has spent the last two years with the Keen team, where she's grown into her role as lead technician and Certified Paraoptometric. When she's not in the office, you'll usually find her at the gym or at home with her dog, Bruno.

Jasmin is from Evansville, Indiana and is a recent graduate of the University of Southern Indiana. She has four years of experience in eye care, two of them here at Keen, and brings a friendly, detail-oriented touch to both patient care and technical work. Outside the office, she's usually spending time with her dogs.

Madyson is from Evansville, Indiana and has spent the past year with Keen, bringing prior experience from both medical office and education settings. Outside of work she enjoys softball and spending time with her husband, Andrew, and their two cats, Snooki and Jumbo.

Miranda has five years of experience in eye care and is passionate about helping patients have a positive experience at every visit. She enjoys being part of a team dedicated to providing exceptional care and is always eager to continue learning and growing in the field.  Outside of work, Miranda enjoys staying active at the gym and spending time with her dog.

Alissa has been passionate about eye care from a young age and began her career in the optical field as soon as she turned 18. With nearly four years of experience, she enjoys learning something new every day, especially when it comes to the latest advancements in eye care technology. Her dedication to continued learning and patient care makes her a valued member of the Keen team. Outside of work, Alissa enjoys spending time with her two cats, Luna and Phoenix, is a big Harry Potter fan, and loves the color green.
